Every government interference in the economy consists of giving an unearned benefit, extorted by force, to some men at the expense of others.-- Ayn Rand November 08, 2003Random Quotes from the Greeedy CapitalistDo you like the random quotes you see on my website? Would you like to add my random quote generator to your site? You can do so in a number of ways:
Update: If you want to view all quotes by a specific author, add ?author= to the url like so: http://rationalmind.net/random.php?author=Ayn Rand October 10, 2003I'm too lazy to write a blog today, so go read someone else's rantings: October 07, 2003September 17, 2003September 14, 2003.Net rocks!I'm playing with the VB.Net-based DotNetNuke portal. Although it’s very new, the superiority of the .Net platform is allowing it to rapidly catch up with mature LAMP-based portals. It really gives a whole new meaning to RAD development. (Btw, did you know that you can run .Net on Linux/Apache using Mono and the ModMono Apache module?) I’ve already set up a blog, and I’d like to move my homepage to .NetNuke, if only I could find a .Net host. Anyone interested in getting a free Unix account in exchange for some space on a .Net-enabled host? I'd host it on my pc if Cox hadn't blocked port 80...I'll be damned if they make me upgrade to a commercial account just to run a web server. Speaking of which, the value/quality of the service Cox offers is ridiculous, but they have a local monopoly on cable Internet service, and I’ve disabled my landline, so I can’t get DSL. Incidentaly, I just found I get free web hosting at http://cox-internet.com/david, but Cox offers no scripting support, making my account rather useless. September 11, 2003August 31, 2003Cox and Forkum interviewCheck out the interview of the Cox and Forkum pair at CapMag. If you haven't seen their comics yet, do so. Now. August 07, 2003Some random sites:An account of a vacation to the other "socialist paradise." Man loses papers, stuck in French airport since 1988. How do courts swear in atheists? Child actor Gary Coleman competes with Arnold for govenor of the People State of CA And to stir up some debate, my post Objectivists Need A Church, Too August 03, 2003I've added over 140 paintings to my art gallery and fixed all the bugs that were plaguing it. Take a look! April 01, 2003Blogshares: The Blogger Stock Exchage!Cool idea, huh?* *(Disclaimer: Clicking on this link may or may not affect the valuation of this stock. Watch out for the SEC or it will put you in the slammer on some arbitrary whim and throw away the key.) October 28, 2002Marxism and Quantum PhysicsI can't believe I haven't head about this, but apparently, in 1996, Alan Sokal, a physicist at NYU, wrote an article titled "Transgressing the Boundaries: Toward a Transformative Hermeneutics of Quantum Gravity", in which he parodied cultural studies, postmodernism, and so on, writing a paper full of gibberish using dozens of Marxist, Socialist and other "Post-Modern" writers. The hillarious thing is that he actually got the paper published in a peer-review journal, "Social Text" -- which as you might imagine, is full of such postmodern crap. |
