Earth stops slowing down

The next environmentalist mass hysteria is at hand: the earth is slowing down. Collision with sun/moon is imminent.

Correction: what I meant to say is that after billions of years, the earth has stopped slowing down -- since 1999 that is. The difference is less than a second a year, but the missing leap-second is significant to scientists and many communication systems.

I can't read the environmentalist article but it is true that the earth's rotation is slowin down, but only 1 millisecond every century (I'm pretty sure that's the statistic. When the earth was first formed it had an 18 hour day. Obviously that has nothing to do with pollution, ect. if that's what they're trying to say. Not that they ever needed truth and facts to make a statement about why man's technology is evil (see: Green House Effect).

Can't wait to see how they pin this one on Capitalism.

"New federal regulations have been past to put a cap on the maximum allowed weight of industrial equipment and factories. Scientists voice hope that these measures come in time to decrease the mass of the earth before it stops spinning all together.

"In other news, failed Hollywood suspense flick "The Core" is making a suprising comeback in video rentals....."
